Connectivity in remote places | Danish Ministry of AgriFish

About This Project

How Danish Ministry of AgriFish provides mobile connections to solve day to day issues for staff working at sea

The challenge

AgriFish is a Danish government agency with very special ‘branches’: ships at sea. They supervise fishing and prepare rescue operations. It is important that they can always quickly determine the correct position and check the catch. In the past, the ships had several LTE connections from different mobile providers, but the range remained very variable. To quickly pass critical data

often expensive satellite connection was needed. And that continuous switching between mobile and satellite was very disturbing.

The solution

With SD-WAN, the Danish government agency AgriFish can seamlessly use its applications via mobile connections. The security is perfectly maintained and the use of satellite connections is prevented as much as possible. At times when there is no mobile coverage and the bandwidth is limited via satellite, fine QoS functionality makes it possible to prioritize critical data on other applications.

The result

  • Uninterrupted connections for apps and data while maintaining security
  • Lower costs for network management thanks to a user-friendly interface for solving connection problems
  • Higher throughput speed for applications thanks to prioritization of critical applications
  • Better cost control with data limits for satellite connections
